Augusta, GA. -- Louise Fliermans, 84, of Georgetown, Illinois, entered into rest on Sunday, November 13, 2005, in Augusta, GA, after a brief illness. Mrs. Fliermans had life-long family ties to Vermilion County having grown up in the Olivet community. A WW II widow during her second year of marriage, she finished her Masters degree and with her son, Carl, moved to Pine Mountain Settlement School in Pine Mountain, Kentucky, where she taught Home Economics for a number of years before returning to Danville. She continued secondary teaching and became Head of the Home Economics Department at Danville High School. She was an active member of the Vermilion County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Upon her retirement she returned to her beloved farm in Georgetown where she enjoyed the beauty of Gods creation and served her Savior by devoting her resources to the stewardship of Gods Creation In that light she established the Carl Fliermans River Nature Preserve along the Little Vermilion River for all to enjoy. She is survived by her son, Dr. Carl Fliermans, and his wife, Ruth Ann of Augusta, GA; a sister, Sara Kay Frank of Lancaster, PA; four grandchildren, Christy Fliermans Carroll of Columbia, SC, Charis Elizabeth Fliermans of New York, NY, Matthew Christopher Fliermans of Washington, DC, Kathryn DeHaan Fliermans of Augusta, GA, and one great-grandchild, Caroline Elisabeth Carroll of Columbia, SC. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Friday November 18, 2005 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
