Louis D'Urso

Louis D’Urso, 78, of Mahomet, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born in 1948 and is the son of Lucius and Ida D’Urso. Louis married Teresa Specht on February 9, 1990; she survives.

He is also survived by his children, Joe D’Urso, Nick (Jennifer) D’Urso, Jack (Tahlya) D’Urso, Luke (Tessa) D’Urso, and Brooke D’Urso; sisters, Anita Sullivan and Lorrie Whitaker; 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Louis dedicated much of his life to serving and protecting others as a police officer, including serving as a member of the SWAT team. He took great pride in his work and in the opportunity to help others. Outside his career, Louis found happiness in the things he loved most, including fishing, watching Illini and Notre Dame football, and above all, spending time with his family. He cherished every moment with those he loved. From the moment his granddaughter Ava was born, they shared a special bond. Their time together brought him immense joy, and he adored her dearly.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Mahomet location, 1102 Churchill Rd., Mahomet, IL 61853. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation.
