Cayuga, Ind. -- Louis Dixon Beam, 68, of Cayuga, Indiana passed away at 11:50 p.m. EDT Monday (May 14, 2007) at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis due to injuries sustained from a A.T.V. accident near Clinton, Indiana. He was born January 16, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of the late Richard and Sarah Beaver Beam. He married Janice Brown Dixon on November 6, 1999 in Cayuga, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Louis Beam II of Cayuga, Indiana and Paul Richard(Christle)Beam of Whiteland, Indiana; three step daughters; Gina(Kevin)Collins, Tara Schaibley and Windy(Joey)Cheatham all of Cayuga, Indiana; one step son, Tony(Diana)Dixon of West Terre Haute, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Christina, Jordan and Karley Beam, Jessie and Haley Stout, Shelby and Katie Porter, A.J. and Rocky Dixon and Luckas Cheatham; two great grandchildren, Brianna and Devon Beam; two sisters, Barbara Sexton of Crain, Indiana and Betty(Jim)Conder of Crossville, Tennessee; one brother, Robert Beam of Nineveh, Indiana; Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Steven Beam on November 15, 2006 and one grandson, Brock Stout. Louis was currently serving as the Cayuga Town Marshal, a position he had held since February 5, 1997. He formerly worked at the Homecroft Police Department south of Indianapolis. Prior to being a police officer, Louis worked for the Department of Public Works for Indianapolis. He was a 1957 graduate of Thomas Carr Howe High School in Indianapolis. His memberships included the Cayuga Christian Church, Parke/Vermillion County F.O.P. Lodge # 167 currently serving as the secretary/treasurer, Indiana Town Marshal's Association, Indiana Ham Radio Operator's Association and a lifetime member of the Order of DeMolay. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EDT Monday, May 21, 2007 at the North Vermillion Jr/Sr High School Gymnasium, 5555 North Falcon Drive, Cayuga, Indiana 47928; Officiating: Rev. Andy Spencer; Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana with graveside Law Enforcement Honors; Visitation: 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. EDT Sunday, May 20, 2007 at the North Vermillion Jr/Sr High School Gymnasium.
