Louis D. Louie' Mann Sr., 75 of Danville went to be with the Lord at 9:32 pm on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at his residence, after a short bout with cancer. Louie was born on September 28th 1936 in Danville, the son of Russell D. Mann and Aletha (Mains) Mann. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Kathryn Watson Mann. Also surviving are his daughter, Rebecca (Hammadi) Elharti of Danville, his son, Louis D. Jay' Mann Jr. of Tampa, Florida, and one grandson, who he loved like a son, Aron D. Mann of Austin, Texas. And a special niece, Evelyn (Curtis) Gravett of Los Angles, California, and his very special dog Sadie. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews including one special great niece, Jody Duncheon of Oakwood who assisted in his care, lifelong friends, Louie Roberts of Danville, Don (Joyce) Bash of Lakeland, FL., special friends, Jimmy and Kelly Ajdinoski, and the employees at the Village Garden. Louie was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, George Asil (Ace) Mann and one sister, Fauniel Harding. He was previously married to Mary Ellen Mann. Louie retired from General Electric/Valmont after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Holy Family Church of Danville. His talents/hobbies were photography, drawing and oil painting. He played many instruments, his favorites being the keyboard and guitar. Other hobbies included woodworking and working in his yard. The family wishes to give special thanks to the nurses and c.n.a.'s at Provena USMC 4 West, nurse Jackie at the Hawthorne Inn, Dr. Labayog and Dr. Soni and their staff at the Cancer Center, and last but not least neighbors, Lonnie and Ruby Swinford for all they have done, as well as many other friends for their offerings of help and prayers including friends from Becky's Tuesday group. Also a very special thank you to Hospice and Scott Stewart with Hospice for their wonderful care. A Celebration of the Life of Louis Louie' Mann Sr. is scheduled for 11:00am on Monday, September 10, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville with entombment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 2-6pm on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the funeral home.
