Lorraine F. Carpenter, 90, of Danville passed away at 8:56 PM January 29, 2013 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. She was born on January 28, 1923, the daughter of Eli and Katherine (Nora) Lete. She married George Martin Carpenter on June 4, 1949 in Westville, IL. He preceded her in death in 1995. Surviving her are three sons- George Carpenter, Joseph Carpenter, and Carl (Sherry) Carpenter, four daughters- Karen (Jim) Smith, Barbara (Terry) Guinn, Mary (Tim) Elliott and Nora (Robert) Setser, two brothers- Bob (Jean) Lete and Edward (Peggy) Lete, one sister- Nora Price, fourteen grandchildren- Matt, Cyndee, Scott, Crystal, Holly, Justin, Tim, Dana, Jennifer, Pam, BJ, Trish, Angela and Nicole, nineteen great grandchildren- Raymond, Faith, Mike, Jackson, Tyler, Lincoln, Chelsey, Ciera, George, Grace, Halley, Chloe, Sawyer, Madalyn, Ayden, Dallas, Aaliyah, Elijah and Drake, one great-great grandchild- Carter. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one grandchild- Brian Carpenter. She worked in the Pentagon during World War II and also at Recording and Statistical in Danville. Lorraine was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She loved to read, walk, write letters and make friends with everyone. A Celebration of Lorraine's life will be held on February 2, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church with Fr. Dennis O'Reilly officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Burial will take place at Ressurection Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Lorraine's name to Holy Family Catholic Church.
