Lorna Jean Konsis, 62 of Westville, went to be with her Lord Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 10:13 a.m., passing at her home with family at her side. Lorna bravely battled cancer for the past two years. She was born August 31, 1954 in Danville to her parents Lawrence and Helen (Sedlak) Wiesemann. She married the love of her life, Ken Konsis, on May 6, 1978 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville. He survives and misses her dearly. Also surviving are her brother, Lloyd (Sharon) Wiesemann of Bloomington; sister-in-law, Jan (Joey) Thomas of Tilton; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friend, J.D. Lugoski. She also had many friends and co-workers, who were like family, who will all keep her in their hearts and remember her always. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Edward, and in-laws, Regina and Frank Konsis. Lorna was employed by the Vermilion County Conservation District as a part-time employee in 1987. She served as the internal audit control and also filled in as needed at the Vermilion County Conservation District. Lorna graduated from Westville High School in 1972 and then attended Danville Junior College and received an AS in Business Education. She worked in the medical field before joining the VCCD. One of Lorna's principal hobbies included doing counted cross-stitch. One of her works earned her a blue ribbon at the National Cross Stitch Show. She also dabbled in photography and won both grand champion in photography and counted cross-stitch the very same year at the Georgetown Fair. She and two cross-stitching friends organized an annual counted cross-stitch show at the VCCD which endured for 20 years. Lorna was very active in the VCCD's special events, especially the Maple Syrup Open House and Haunted Happenings. She was very active in the Presence USMC Foundation with her husband Ken, with the Festival of Trees event and most recently, Kickin' It Country. Lorna is also known for her holiday decorating, most notably her Christmas tree and gift wrapping. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 231 N State St, Westville. Fr. Timothy Sauppe' will officiate. She will be laid to rest at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Westville. Visitation will be held Monday, February 6, 2017 from 4:30 - 8:00 p.m. at the church. A rosary will be said prior to visitation starting at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations be made to the Vermilion County Conservation Foundation or Walnut Council Foundation.
