Lorin L. Kinney Sr.

Lorin L. Kinney, Sr., 68, of Oakwood, died at 1:22 p.m. on Monday, September 10, 2007, at Provena United Samaritan Medical Center in Danville. Lorin was born December 16, 1938, in Danville, the son of Leland W. and Dorothy I. (Woodard) Kinney. He married Karen L. (Johnston-Meade) in Oakwood on June 8, 1958. She survives. Lorin is also survived by four sons, Lorin L. (Cheryl) Kinney, Jr. of Fithian, IL, Jonathan L. (Ruth) Kinney of Clawson, MI, Christopher L. (Elaine) Kinney and David L. (Cherylyn) Kinney both of Oakwood, IL; one sister, Karen Sue (Fred) Gores of Effie, MN; twelve grandchildren, Joshua, Dustin, Caleb, Cassy, Anne, Little Jon, Kate, Stacy, Ashley, Andy, Dylon, and Tawnya; three great-grandchildren, Kira, Shay and Ryan and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents. Lorin had worked at Western Brick for 17 years and then at Quaker Oats, where he retired in 2000. He enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting in his younger years and was an Eagle Scout. Lorin loved his family and his two Boston Terriers, Spike and Trudy. He was a member of Oakwood Christian Church, where he served as an elder and a trustee and was the building and maintenance man. Lorin loved Jesus Christ and his church family. A celebration of Lorin L. Kinney Sr.s., life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 13, 2007 at the Oakwood Christian Church with Pastor Rick Fortier officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel.
