Loren "Junior" Elliott, 92, of Danville, took his final breath in this world on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. Loren was born on July 26, 1930 in Danville, the son of Ottis Loren and Helen Mayme (Evans) Elliott. On December 27, 1973, Loren married Alda Rauchbach. She preceded him in death on October 15, 2004. Loren is survived by his three children, Cathy (Cary) Howie of Brownstown, IN; Giovanna Rauchbach, San Diego, CA, and Ronald Elliott of Danville. Loren enjoyed and loved his six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and his extended family of nephews, nieces, and cousins. Loren was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a grandson (Aaron), and a great-granddaughter (Nora).
Loren was a Danville-man. He was born and raised in the city. He attended Danville High School. He served the city with the street department for over 30 years. Loren took great pride in the work he did for the city and his brief military service. Loren was drafted during the Korean War and served in the US Army, stationed at Killeen, TX as a tank commander.
Loren will be remembered as a simple, straight-forward, and benevolent man who took great pride in his family. He enjoyed spending time with his children and his son-in-law Cary. He was always up for a game of cards, some Monicals pizza, a chat about the past, and when they were open, an Arnholts Persian or Nut Roll. In his early retirement, Loren enjoyed reading western novels, especially Louis Lamour, and in his later years he enjoyed watching westerns.
Loren, or Dad and Grandpa as those closest to him called him, chose to trust and follow Jesus when he was a part of the Lone Oak Church of Christ. His family clings to the promise of 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, "And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died."
Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center have been entrusted with the arrangements for Lorens internment. Per Lorens wishes there will be a private burial and service.
