Lora Doyne Acord, 86, of Danville, passed away at 5:45 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2007, at North Logan Healthcare in Danville, IL. He was born February 27, 1921 in Georgetown, IL, the son of the late Andrew and Arzella (Watts) Acord. Doyne married Helen Tuggle February 16, 1945 in Richmond, Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Helen, two sons, Ray Acord of Danville, IL and Duane (Martha) Acord of Greenville, South Carolina; one brother, Clarence Acord of Independence, IN; five sisters, Mildred Utasch of Danville, IL, Shirley (Bill) Felgenhauer of Westville, IL, Veda (Earl) Attan of Nashville, TN, Ada Bell Kern of IL and Etha Attan of Danville, IL: five grandchildren, Lora and Carolyn of IN, Jennifer of NC, Benjamin and Daniel of SC; and seven great-grandchildren. His parents, two sisters, Treva Francis and Juanita Hall and three brothers, Andrew, Donald, and Dewey Acord preceded him in death. Doyne served in the Army during WW II. He worked as a Civil Engineer with over twenty five years with the Air Force. He was a member of Watseka Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 527 in Cissna Park. He enjoyed fishing and played several musical instruments. He liked spending time with old friends and making new ones. Doyne loved his family dearly. A celebration of life for Doyne Acord will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Cummins officiating. Burial will be Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2007 from 10-11 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Memorials in Doynes name may be made to First Baptist Church in Danville.
