Lonnie R. Johnson Sr.

Lonnie R. Johnson Sr., 66, of Potomac, lost his battle with lung cancer at 5:35pm on Monday August 2, 2007, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Lonnie was born on October 10, 1940 in Danville the son of Arliss O. and Edith Glynes Johnson. He married Loretta Sue Kinney she survives along with their children Lonnie Johnson Jr. of Westville, Teresa (Gregory) Smith of Rantoul and Robert (Erica) Johnson of Danville. Grandchildren Matthew, Jacob, and Tyler Johnson; and a great granddaughter Avery Johnson. He later married Roberta M. Falconer she preceded him on August 8,1998. He was also preceded by his parents, a brother Carol Johnson and a sister Darlene Juvinall. Lonnie retired as maintenance supervisor after 30 years of service with Provena USMC. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and yard work. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Illini fan. Most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren and family who will greatly miss him. A celebration of Lonnies life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, September 1,2007 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, with Pastor Miles Clark officiating. Burial Sunset Memorial Park.
