Lonnie R. Johnson, Jr

Lonnie R. Johnson, Jr., 64 of Westville, IL passed away with his sons by his side on December 2, 2022 at his home in Westville, IL.

Lonnie was born on November 9, 1958 the son of Lonnie R. Johnson Sr. and Loretta Sue (Kinney) Johnson in Danville, IL.

Survivors include his mother, Loretta Sue Johnson of Danville, IL, two sons, Matt (Zandra) Johnson and Tyler (Rachael) Johnson, both of Noblesville, IN, three grandchildren, Zander, Joselyn and Benjamin Johnson all of Noblesville, IN, two siblings, Teresa Smith of Rantoul, IL and Rob (Erica) Johnson of Danville, IL, as well as his niece, Lilly and nephew, Jake.

Lonnie is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his father, Lonnie R. Johnson, Sr. as well as his brother in law Greg Smith.

Growing up in Tilton, IL, Lonnie enjoyed playing little league football at Ellsworth Park and baseball at Central Foundry. He continued his passion for baseball at DHS and American Legion Post 210.

Lonnie worked as a shop manager at E. B. Collins for 18 years and later worked 27 years as production support at thyssenkrupp in Danville at which he worked until the final week of his life. He was a trusted and dedicated employee and loved his work family.

Lonnie loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a very proud father and Papa.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Robbie Ketcherside will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
