Lona Brown

Lona Cooky Brown, 70, of Danville, IL passed away September 5, 2006 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. She was born August 25, 1936 in Rankin, Illinois daughter of Frank and Mary Brooks Snyder. She married Dale Butch Brown on October 21, 1961 in Rankin. He survives along with their son: Todd Brown (Amanda) of Las Vegas, NV. Three grandchildren: Alexis, Chase, and Emma. Four siblings; James W. Snyder of Danville, Craig M. Snyder (Jean) of Pensacola, FL, Sara Snyder of Danville, and Mary D. Schackmann (Roger) of Danville. Lona was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Anthony Dale. Lona was a 1954 graduate of Rankin High School and a 1957 graduate of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. She worked as a RN at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Bismarck Unit 1 School District, and retired from the VA Medical Center in Danville. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and a volunteer at Provena USMC. She enjoyed shopping, Illini sports, and her grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm, Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Danville. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Friday morning at Holy Family Catholic Church in Danville. Burial will be at Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck. In Lieu of flowers please make memorials to Holy Family Catholic Church, Arthritis Foundation, and/or Carle Cancer Center.
