DANVILLE - Lois Louise Dokey, 78, of Danville passed away peacefully Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Born August 25, 1936 in Arthur, Illinois, she was the daughter of Verlin H. and Rose W. (Moore) Mackey. She married Richard Lee Dokey, on February 14, 1975 in Danville. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2012. Lois worked as an LPN for many years. She loved beadwork and making her own jewelry. Lois was also an avid gardener and had a love for flowers, especially roses, and floral arranging. She was also a member of a local Garden Club and loved shopping whenever possible. Lois is survived by her children, Johna (Jim) Bolton of Potomac, Cindy Elder of Tuscola, Rick (Darlena) Dokey of Peoria, Vicki (John) McCoy of Danville and Doug Dokey of Danville; one sister, Betty Mackey of Urbana; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Fern Burnside. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; and brother, Jim Mackey. A service to celebrate Lois life will be 11 a.m. Friday January 9th at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Pastor Phil Miller officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the time of service. Burial will be at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Sunset Funeral Home.
