Lois June Huffman

Lois June Ingalsbe Huffman went to be with her Heavenly Father and departed loved ones on February 24, 2018. She was surrounded by family and friends and passed peacefully at Carle Foundation Hospital after a very rapid decline in health. Lois is the daughter of Clair Ervin Ingalsbe and Lillie Agnes Donley. She is the granddaughter of Alfred and Mary White Ingalsbe and William H. and Sylvia Fitzsimmons Donley. She was born on December 31, 1934 in the hospital in Danville, IL. Survivors include her best friend and husband of 62 years, Richard Edward Huffman, children Myra (Frank) Huffman Fasullo of El Lago, Tx, Mary (Mark) Huffman McBride of Cayuga, In., David (Kathleen) Huffman of Greenwood, In., Charles (Judene) Huffman of Clarksville, Tn, and Rick (Jennifer) Huffman of Danville, Il. Also surviving are her Aunt Louise Donley (105) of Danville, sister Beulah (Wayne) Ingalsbe Smith of Peoria, Il., sister Janet Ingalsbe Hudson of Mooresville, In., and brother Harold (Trudy) Ingalsbe of Seymour, In, brothers-in-law, Melvin (Joan) Huffman and John (Marie) Huffman, The loves of her life were her grandchildren Zachary (Jessie) McBride, Lillie (Tyler) Fasullo Brannen, Francesca June Fasullo, Warren Tamagri, Kelsey (Lucas) Huffman Shuman, Jodi (Daulton) Tamagri O'Brien, Rosemary Fasullo, Noah McBride, Benjamin David Huffman and Riker Ervin Huffman. Great grandchildren are Juliet, Victoria and Braxton McBride and Samantha Rose O'Brien. Lois was a much loved aunt to many as well as an honorary aunt and grandmother to many. Preceding her in death were her parents, dearly beloved brother Ervin Clair and wife Clara (ne Meeker) Ingalsbe, and brother-in-law Rev. Hal Hudson. Lois attended Potomac Grade School and later graduated from Bismarck High School. She graduated from Danville Junior College with an associate degree in music education. Lois was a hard-working girl all her life. Her first job was running the paper route in Potomac with her sisters to earn money for a bike. She started this job when she was 8 and her sisters were 7 and 6 She worked at various jobs to pay her way through college and once she graduated, taught music at Bismarck ISD and Alvin ISD. After she left teaching to be a full-time mother, she still found ways to make money, primarily so her family could go on vacation. She sold Avon, delivered phone books, did phone and personal surveys, home child care, among other things. In 1969, she and Rich built Sunnyside Egg Farm and successfully ran that business for more than 21 years. They had 15,000 chickens and delivered eggs to stores and restaurants throughout the western Indiana/eastern Illinois area. Their next venture was Sunnyside Lawn Tractors. Finally, she and Richard decided to see the USA, and became hot shot truckers for first Roberts Express and then FedEx. They made critical deliveries to 47 states and Canada. She loved that job, and especially loved taking down time and going sightseeing and visiting family. Lois had a lifelong love affair with music. She and her sisters Beulah and Janet formed a trio, with mother Lillie accompanying them, when they were very young and performed at talent contests, churches, funerals and weddings throughout Vermillion County. Then she taught music for five years. She performed as part of a trio that appeared on the Old Union Church of Christ TV program on Sunday afternoons on WAND for several years. She was choir director, music leader and children's church director for many years at Old Union Church of Christ, where she was a lifelong member. Lois leaves behind so many dear loved ones. She was a very friendly person and never met a stranger. She loved life and always embraced the challenges and joys it brought. Her daddy said he could never understand people's fascination with Shirley Temple, because he had a daughter just as pretty and just as talented. She was our bright shining star. Shine on, Lois. Shine on. A Celebration of Lois' life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N Vermilion Street in Danville, IL. Paul Ziebart will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
