Lois J Benson

Champaign- Lois J. Benson 92, of Champaign, formerly of Highland Park, IL, passed away at 2:18 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 9, 2013) at Meadowbrook Health Care in Urbana. Lois was born June 16, 1920 in Chicago, IL. She was the daughter of Hans R. and Hazel Woolnough Buhrow. Lois married John Benson on March 16, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1995. Surviving are 4 daughters, Susan Benson of Champaign, Barbara (Ron) Quigley of Ballwin, MO, Nancy (Alberto) Benson-Nieto of Champaign, and Sally (Steve) Boerman of Yreka, CA. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren Sarah and Elizabeth Quigley and Selby and Signe Boerman. A longtime resident of Highland Park, Lois was known by her family as loving, and humorous. She was active in the Women's Club and Girl Scouts, and was a successful realtor. A Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery Chapel 9900 Gross Point Rd. in Skokie. Officiating will be Pastor Lee Eclov. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Skokie. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 710 N. Neil St., in Champaign is in charge of arrangements.
