Hoopeston- Lois Viola Hafner, 98, of Hoopeston, formerly of Oakwood passed away at 10:20 AM on Friday, December 31, 2010 at Hoopeston Nursing Home. She was born on April 30, 1912 in Brazil, IN to William and Jessie Sims Beever. She married Norman D. Hafner on April 20, 1935 in Danville. Surviving are two daughters Ruth Schave of Tallahassee, FL and Joyce (Rex) Harden of Hoopeston; daughter-in-law Mary Hafner of St. Joseph, IL; 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Berlin, parents, sister Carole, and a great-grandchild. Lois worked at Walgreens for 20 years. She was a member at Antioch Church of Christ in Rossville where she enjoyed church activities. She also enjoyed traveling, crocheting, reading, yard-work, and playing Skip-Bo. A service to celebrate the life of Lois Hafner will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel, a Life Celebration Home. Pastor Earl Eells will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Oakwood. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 12 noon at the funeral home prior to the services on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Hoopeston Nursing Home or Antioch Church of Christ in Rossville. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
