Lois Henrietta Dazey , 97, passed away after a short illness on May 2, 2012, at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, Illinois, where she had lived for the past four years. Lois was born on January 5, 1915, in Ambia, Indiana, the daughter of Ralph Morgan and Elnor Brougher Morgan, and was raised in that west-central area of Indiana. On September 15, 1934, Lois married Raymond G. Dazey who passed away in 1994 just two weeks shy of their 60th wedding anniversary. After living in Fowler, Indiana, and Champaign, Illinois, they settled in Danville, where raised their three children, Jan, Terry, and Tamara. Lois was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church for many, many years, particularly enjoying her Circle and making countless craft items for their annual bazaar. She was a talented seamstress and loved needlework of all kinds particularly knitting. Her many projects from her porcelain-painting years are cherished by her family. Her love of gardening, her incredible vegetable garden, and beautiful flower beds brought her endless hours of joy. She was an avid bridge player and loved playing cards with her family and friends. In addition to her volunteer work, Lois worked as a legal secretary for Acton, Baldwin, Bookwalter, and Meyer for almost 25 years, a career she began after high school working for her grandfather who was an attorney. She was active in the Business and Professional Women's group as well as the PTA when her children were in school. She is survived by her children, Terry Dazey of Lake Forest, California, and Tamara Baloun (Michael) of Palatine, Illinois; eight grandchildren - Carrie Musetti , Scott Dazey, Kevin Dazey, Craig Dazey, Jeff Dazey, Kara Baloun Stacy, Lauren Baloun, and Brittany Baloun; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dazey; son, Jan Dazey; daughter-in-law, Laura Dazey, and great-granddaughter, Courtnee Dazey. A Celebration of Lois's Life will be held on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. James united Methodist Church in Danville, with Justin Snyder officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service. Entombment will take place at Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville. Memorials can be made in Lois's name to the St. James United Methodist Church. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville is in charge of arrangements.
