Lois E. Arnett, 93, Ridge Farm, passed away September 25, 2023, at Goldwater Care in Danville. She was born July 2, 1930, in Scottland, Illinois to Donald and Ruth {Kelly} Claypool, both deceased. She grew up in Ridge Farm and graduated from the Ridge Farm High School with the Class of 1948. Following graduation, she joined her sweetheart James Arnett who was stationed at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia and the pair were married on April 23, 1949. They shared 58 years of marriage before his passing in 2007. Lois will be dearly missed by her children, Ramona (John O) Hamer of Illinois and Paul Arnett of Tennessee; her grandchildren, Heather (Damien) Welch, Melissa (Chuck) Hess, and Timothy Arnett; her step-grandchildren, John E. Hamer and Dawn Johnson; her great grandchildren, Meridian, Luna, Colin (Jen), Tobin, Jadyn, Quinn, Maddie, Lauren, Dalton, and Max; and her four great-great grandchildren. She had several nieces and nephews, who were all very special to her. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Don, Richard, Lela (Claypool) Key, and Daniel. Lois was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her children in Ridge Farm. She later worked for Harrison Grade School as head cook and when it closed, she went to being a cook at Ridge Farm Grade School. She worked for 19 plus years before she retired from the school district. She was also a member of the Ridge Farm Church of the Nazarene. In later years, Lois loved doing word searches every night and spending time with her family. She loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Goldwater, formerly Colonial Manor, for their care of Lois and support for the family that was shown throughout her stay there. A celebration of Lois life will be held at 11:00am, Friday, September 29, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846. Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am on Friday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville.
