LOIS A. GRUPE Lois A. Grupe, 84, of Danville, passed away at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday, February 8th, 2011 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home. Lois was born on October 16th, 1926 in Hagerstown, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond and Aline (Leaver) Keeler. She married Clark C. Grupe on February 2nd, 1946 in Effingham, Illinois. She is survived by her husband- Clark Grupe of Tipton, Indiana; two sons- Dennis (Carla) Grupe of Veedersburg, Indiana and Keith (Chris) Grupe of Oakwood; three daughters- Sybil (Louis) Vera of Annadale, Virginia, Denise Carlson of Tilton and Linda (Lee) McGehee of Tipton, Indiana; one sister- Genevieve (Bud) Byers of Effingham, Illinois; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother- Clyde Wesley Keeler. Lois graduated from Farina High School. She worked as a telephone operator, G.E. and St. Elizabeths Hospital in Danville. She was a member of the St. Joseph American Legion Auxiliary, TOPS and volunteered for several years at St. Elizabeths Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, listening to music, canning, playing cards, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. A Celebration of the life of Lois A. Grupe will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 12th, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Father Robert Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to CRIS Senior Services.
