Lloyde Irvin Ross, 93, of Danville, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Friday, May 6th, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Lloyde was born on February 13th, 1918, in Sidney, Illinois. He lived and went to school in Champaign, Florida, Danville and Sidney, Illinois. He had two sisters-Thelma and Norma and three brothers- Lowell, Wayne and Michael. His mother Ella Thelma and his dad John Henry are both deceased. He married Madge (Kizer) Ross in 1939. Twin daughters were born in 1940 and died at birth. A son-Dale was born in 1948 and he married Mari Dearth in 1968. Lloyde enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 and served in Germany, London and France. He was in the railroad division, where he served for 31 months. Lloyde was blessed with two granddaughters- Erin (Craig) Cunningham and Brooke (Andy) Smith. Craig and Erin have two precious children-Jackson and Jordyn. He is also survived by numerous family members including special nieces and nephews. He was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church and has been for 60 years. He served as an elder, dean of elders and a youth leader. He was a very good father and husband for over 70 years. He owned his own business and retired in 1980. A Celebration of the life of Lloyde Irvin Ross will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 9th, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Kent Tibbens officiating. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
