Lloyd W Mcvey Jr.

Lloyd W. McVey Jr., 62, of rural Fithian, passed away at 8:02 pm on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at his residence. He was born February 13, 1953 in Danville, the son of Lloyd and Norma Richter McVey Sr. He married Kristina Green on September 16, 1978 in Oakwood. She preceded him in death on January 30, 2005. Survivors include his mother, Norma McVey of Florida; a special girlfriend, Maggie Auterman of Fithian; one brother, Larry Wayne McVey of Missouri; mother-in-law, Dolores (Bob Findlay) Green of Fithian; Brother-in-law, Kevin (Sue) Green of Fithian; one nephew, Travis (Lindsay) Green of Chicago; and one niece, Shannon (Miles Arnay) Green of West Hollywood, CA. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd McVey Sr., and father-in-law, Gail Green. Lloyd had many hobbies, but first and foremost was his love for Dodge cars, trucks, and all Dodge memorabilia. He had a successful career drag racing, and was featured twice on the cover of Hot Rod Magazine. In 2013, Lloyd was awarded the Charleston Speedway Drag Racing Championship. He also enjoyed tractor pulling, driving his semi-trucks, riding his Harley Davidson, farming with his family, and talking about anything to do with automobile mechanics in extreme detail. A celebration of the life of Lloyd McVey Jr. will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Officiating services will be Drew Mentzer. Following services he will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
