After the army Lloyd pursued a lifelong career as a printer pressman working at Illinois Printing and later R&S Printing. After retirement Lloyd operated his own printing business until his wife became ill, then donated his equipment and supplies to the Print Shop located at the Bunker Hill Historic Area at Kennekuk County Park. Lloyd kept busy in life serving as PTA president, a member of the Masonic Lodge for 58 years, teaching Sunday school and serving as deacon and elder at churches he attended. Most recently Lloyd enjoyed drinking coffee with his “printing” friends, attending various churches outings and trips, searching for that one Avon Bottle he did not yet have, and sharing conversation with anyone who had time to listen. He enjoyed spending quality time with his daughters and granddaughters, whom meant the world to him. His greatest passion was his love for the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a wonderful husband, son, brother, father, and grandfather who spent his days living life to the fullest, and always showed love and compassion with a smile on his face. A service to celebrate the life of Lloyd Toby will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1-3 PM prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Saint James Food Pantry. And those who knew him well would know why this would be so very important to him.
