Linda M. (Wolfe) Cunningham

Linda M. Cunningham passed away peacefully in her sleep with her family by her side on August 29, 2026. She was born November 23, 1953, the youngest daughter of Lester and Jean Bridgman Wolfe. On July 14, 1984, she married Timothy Cunningham in Oakwood. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters: Amanda (Damon) Innes-Shareef and their two daughters Luca and Cora of Georgetown, Texas, and Beth (B.R.) Seggebruch and their daughter Emily (Qwentin) of Cissna Park, Illinois. She leaves behind two sisters and one brother: Pamela Cookus of Savoy, Paula (Gary) McMillin of St. Louis, Jim Wolfe of Oakwood, as well as a brother and sister-in-law Mike Cunningham of Florida and Kendra (Zoc) Zoccolillo of Avon, Indiana. She will be especially missed by her Boston Terrier, Lois.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her father and mother-in-law Ken and Pat Cunningham, and a brother-in-law Greg Cookus.

She graduated from Oakwood High School in 1971 and retired in 2002 as Human Resource Manager from the Illinois State Geological Survey.

Linda enjoyed vacationing in Key West, scuba diving, kayaking, baking, and face-timing with her granddaughters.

Her family would like to extend a special thank you to Transitions Hospice, Davita Dialysis, childhood friends Donna, Patty, and Janice, and to all her church family.

Visitation will be held from 3 – 7 pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home’s Oakwood Chapel, located at 105 E. South Main Street in Oakwood. Funeral will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at the Oakwood United Methodist Church, located at 200 N. Oakwood Street in Oakwood. Officiating will be Pastor Patti Wise and Pastor Trevor Oetting. Memorials may be made to the Oakwood United Methodist Church or the Oakwood food pantry.
