Mrs. Linda S. McClain, affectionately known as "Bubbles," daughter of the late Leonard E. and Helen E. (Bolser) Askins, was born September 17, 1947 at home in Danville, Illinois. Linda attended school in the Danville public school system. Linda married the late George T. Wilson in Danville in 1972, to this union one child was born; Heidi Jo Wilson. Linda later married the love of her life, Mr. Arnold R. McClain in 1976.
During her 72 years on this earth Linda held down various jobs, including taking care of a multitude of children, tearing down buildings in and around the Danville area, and driving the Head Start School buses for many years. Linda enjoyed life and genuinely loved people. Linda never met a stranger. She enjoyed shooting pool with the Untouchables MC Pool team, dancing, fishing, camping, and riding motorcycles with her husband until both of their health declined. Linda enjoyed going to church (New Jerusalem, Pastor Bobby Keys) when she was able, spending time with her friends, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her daughter Heidi, grandchildren RaeAnna, Ta'zae, and JaeLin, as well as her great grandson Deuce.
Linda leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Arnold R. McClain of Danville, Daughter Heidi J (James) Pertell of Danville; son, Sheldon G. McClain Sr. of Fisher, Illinois; bonus daughters, Selena M. Elliott of Jonesboro, GA and Stacey Webb of Peoria, Illinois; sister, Rebecca R. Thomas of Danville; God-son, Willie D Thomas and Steven R. Brandon both of Danville; a very special son-in-love, Michael G. Pertell of Orlando, FL; special friends; Ruth Abernathy, Gloria Ice, Connie Derrickson, Patti Copple, Renee Rickets, Holy Farrell, Juli Dean, and Myrna Rhodes all of Danville; 22 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; her Untouchables MC family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother, and 4 grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2019 at the New Life Church of Faith on 1419 N. Bowman Ave in Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Thomas Miller and Pastor Bobby Keys. Burial will be in the Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 has been entrusted with arrangements.
