Linda Louise Sands, 73, of Oakwood, passed away at 7:39 a.m. Monday, July 25th, 2011 at her home. Linda was born on August 24th, 1937 in Danville, the daughter of Vearl Alexander and Iva Emily (Powell) Morgan. She was married to her true love Howard Sands for over 55 years. He survives. She is also survived by three children- Rick (Carol) Sands, Jeff (Penny) Sands and Cindy (Bruce) Redman all of Oakwood; eight siblings- Gladys Lockwood, Juanita (John) Shappard, Marilyn (James) Trimble, Nancy (Mark) Lofland, George (Shirley) Morgan, Jennifer (Walter) Amos, Susan Morgan and Carol (Sven) Munck; six grandchildren- Jeffery (Nikki) Sands, Cory (Jessica) Sands, Ashley (Larry Deck) Redman, Rebecca (Kyle) Miller, Shawn (Whiteney) Sands and Carley Redman; twelve great-grandchildren- Taylor, Tucker, Tommy, Teagan, Kacee, Bennett, Tristan, Cohen, Brenley, Kimber, Chase and Sadie- who is due in September; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother- Vearl "Sonny" Morgan, and a sister- Judy Rotramel. Linda worked at R & S Printing for 39 years, until she retired in 1996. Linda was always there for others, always putting others needs before her own. She was generous to her charities especially children's charities. Linda was the first to offer a helping hand without expecting anything in return. Some of her favorite times were working puzzles and watching boxing with her husband and family. Linda was most proud of her family and their love and commitment they had to her and each other. A Celebration of the life of Linda Louise Sands will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 29th, 2011 at Sunset's Oakwood Chapel, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Dennis Divan officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Linda's name to the Salvation Army and or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
