Linda L. Heeren

Danville – Linda Louise Heeren, 79, of Danville, passed away at 10:43 PM on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Hawthorne Inn of Danville. She was born on August 19, 1947, in Danville to James Edward and Mattie (Bateman) Gogerty. She married James E. Heeren on December 1, 1998, in Fort Myers, FL. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2003.

She is survived by two children, Ryan Haggerty of Bowling Green, KY, and Stacy (John) Ehmen of Ogden, IL; two step-children, Chris and Josie Heeren; grandchildren, Gage (Caroline) Haggerty, Alyssa Haggerty, Jordan (Nick) Catlett, John Michael (Kylie) Ehmen, Joey Heeren, Max (Samira) Heeren, Makayla Heeren, Makenzie Heeren, and Dylan Heeren; great grandchild, Hendrix and Emmett; and two brothers, Tom and Ed Gogerty.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Marge Izard.

After high school and raising her children, Linda earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1989. She spent much of her career in the food service/dietary department at the VA Illiana Health System in Danville where she served until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church where she raised her family in faith.

In her spare time, Linda enjoyed being with her family, attending mass, gardening, traveling, and walking with her friend Su. Most of all, Linda loved to spend time with her grandkids who will miss her dearly.

Her love reached far beyond her own family, and it seemed that everyone who knew her called her “Grandma Linda.” It was more than a name; it reflected the warmth, kindness, and love she gave so freely to those around her. She had a way of making people feel like family, and her title as “Grandma Linda” was undoubtedly her favorite and most cherished role.

A service to celebrate the life of Linda L. Heeren will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation will be held from 2-3 PM prior to the service on Sunday, also at Sunset in Danville. Because of her love for animals, memorials in her name may be made to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter.
