Linda Joette Cope

Linda Joette (Smith) Cope, 69, of Holland, Michigan, formerly of Covington, passed away tragically Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was born on February 2, 1950, in Tacoma, Washington, the daughter of Genieve Reffett.

Linda married Les Winters on March 8, 1969, and had two children, Angel (Mitchell) Roarks and Matt Winters. On October 5, 1996, Linda was married to Randy Cope and became a mother to Charlie (Wendy) & Joe Cope. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Madison Dowers, Nicole Cope, Gavin Winters, Ethan Winters, & Curtiss Cope, as well as her brother, Jim (Karen) Smith. She was preceded in death by her mother, Genieve Reffett and her brother, Ronald E. Smith (*MIA US Army Special Forces).

Linda worked as an optician for 33 years. She was very supportive of the military and an active member of Rolling Thunder. She was also a member of the National League of Families. Linda was a published author.

She was an incredible wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. When she loved, it was strong. She loved life, family, laughing, and supporting everyone. She will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched in so many special ways. Linda was taken from us too soon and will be missed by so many!

A Celebration of Lindas life will be held at 7:00pm (EST), Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Covington, located at 420 3rd Street, with Pastor Bobby Fairchild officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 4:00pm to 7:00pm (EST) Wednesday June 19, 2019 at the funeral home prior to her service.
