East Carbon/South Jordan, Utah - Lillian LaNora Norman Grider Cassano, age 92, passed away peacefully July 5, 2014 in South Jordan, Utah. She was born April 14, 1922 in Tangier, Indiana to Dora A. and Mabel M. Cummins Norman. She married Cecil E. Grider, November 16, 1941 in Montezuma, Indiana; he died in a fishing accident on Utah Lake on May 19, 1963. She later married James Cassano, April 26, 1975 in Price, Utah. He died on May 19, 1986. Nora was a devout member of the East Carbon Community Church since 1945. She served as a Sunday school teacher for 40 years, board member for over 35 years, youth leader and treasurer for 20 years. Nora retired from the US Postal Service after 30 years. She was an avid outdoors woman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, river trips and rock hunting. Nora touched a great many people in her long life and she will be remembered for her loving and caring spirit. She loved the Lord, her church, family, and a community of friends. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. At Nora's request please no flowers. She is survived by her brother, Clarence Edwin Norman and his wife Mary of Newport, Indiana; and many loving nieces and nephews. Nora was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James, David and Tom Norman; and sister, Barbara Matthews. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EDT Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Keith McIntyre; Burial: Georgetown Cemetery, Georgetown, Illinois; Visitation: 10 a.m. EDT Tuesday, July 15, 2014 until time of services at the funeral home.
