Lillian Butler, 97, of Danville, passed away at 5:40am Wednesday June 15, 2016. Lillian was born in Danville, IL on June 14, 1919 the daughter of Verne Russell Taylor and Ethel Jane (Davidson) Taylor. She then married the love of her life Robert Wayne Butler, he precedes her in death. Lillian is survived by her son, James Butler; daughter, Anne (Butler) Tucker; two grandsons, Kerry (Terri) Tucker, James (Gayle) Tucker; one granddaughter, Jeannine (Larry) Scelfo; and 6 great-grandchildren. Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Leslie Taylor; one sister, Marie (Taylor) Smith; one son, John Raymond Butler; one granddaughter, Lisa (Tucker) Depratt; one grandson, Mark Alan Butler; and a special niece A. Joan Moulton. Lillian was a caring person; she was a Sunday school teacher at the Central Christian School Church and a Thursday school teacher at East Park Church of Christ. She also was a winder at General Electric for many years before retiring in 1974. In her spare time, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She could also be found knitting or watching one of her favorite sports teams on television. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11AM on Saturday June 18, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Dennis Floyd. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held from 10AM to 11AM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to East Park Church of Christ, Muncie Baptist Church, or Batestown United Methodist Church.
