Lewis W. Decker, 88, of Danville passed away at 3:00am Friday January 27, 2006 at North Logan Healthcare. He was born in Danville on August 22, 1917, the son of the late Charles N. and Vera (Lewis) Decker. He married Doris M. Peavler on December 10, 1939 in Covington, Indiana. She preceded him in death. Survivors include one son, Kenneth (Lana) Decker of Williamsport, Indiana, three daughters: Carolyn (Bill) Darner, Judy Yocius, both of Danville, and Donna (Les) Hughes of Covington, Indiana, 8 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one grandson, and one son-in-law, Mike. Lewis was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Navy from 1944-1946. He retired as a letter carrier for the Post Office with the 321/2 years of service. He received his 60-year membership pin, two years ago, from the National Association of Letter Carriers, being the oldest member of the local carriers. He enjoyed all sports, traveling, camping, and a die hard St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was a bird watcher and member of the National Audubon Society. Lewis was a huge family man; his world revolved around his children and grandchildren.
