Lewis Shepherd

Danville Lewis Shepherd, 72, of Deland formerly Danville, IL, passed away at 11:43 PM on July 7, 2023 at OSF St Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL.

Lewis was born on September 2, 1950 the son of Allan and Rose (McQueen) Shepherd in Danville, IL. He married Jennifer Zilmer on June 9, 2018 in Deland, IL and she survives.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Shepherd of Deland, IL, eight children, Cynthia Shepherd, Christine (Phil) Jennings, Allan (Amanda) Shepherd, April White, Miranda Shepherd, Jospeh (Rachel) Shepherd, Samuel Millay and Emilee (Luke) Smith, 23 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren with one more on the way, five siblings, John (Rita) Shepherd, Donna (Bob) Scott, Pauline Pratt, Mary (Rene) Landry and Doris (Wayne) Burmeister.

Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, Desiree Shepherd, one great granddaughter, Eleesia Higgins and one sister, Becky Wilson and one brother-in-law, Arnold Pratt.

Lewis had a real passion for automobiles and was the proprietor of Jalopy Jungle. He enjoyed spending his free time fishing, playing pool as a member of the ABA Pool League and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 PM on Saturday July 15, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Pastor Ray Pratt will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 5-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
