Danville- Lewis J. "Louie" Montgerard II, 69, of Danville passed away at 1:16 AM on Friday September 21, 2012 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. He was born on January 1, 1943 in Danville to Lewis J. and Anna Zucca Montgerard. Louie married Sandy Pilkington on February 15, 1986 in Danville. She survives. He had previously married Willa (Gordon) Mineo who also survives. Also surviving are three children, Jim (Shannan) Montgerard of Danville, Terri (Jeff Boatman) Barney of Danville, and Karla (Rob) Gifford, also of Danville; five grandchildren, Ryan Nesbitt, Cassie Roberts, Hunter Krauel, Reagan Gifford, and Hillery Montgerard; special niece Vickie Nixon and her two children, Anthony (Lindsey) and Kayla Nixon; and his two favorite dogs, Sunny and Shaker. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Peggy Bott. After graduating from Schlarman High School, Louie served in the National Guard. He worked as a supervisor at Heatcraft for 42 years, until his retirement in 2005. Louie loved hunting and fishing, was a member of the Illini Bass Club, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Illini fan. He also enjoyed his yearly trips to Florida. Louie was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, the Gao Grotto, and was a member of the Further Light Masonic Lodge. A Mass of Christian Burial for Lewis "Louie" Montgerard will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Danville. Father Greg Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Monday, September 24, also at Sunset in Danville, with prayer service being held at 3:30 PM. Memorials may be made to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter Foundation or to Schlarman Academy.
