Lester Allen Powell

Lester Allen Powell, Sr., 73 of Danville, died at 6:45 pm Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Carle Hospital in Urbana.

He was born on March 19, 1946 to Harry and Eva (McClatchy) Powell. He married Sonya Miller (Powell) on November 8th, 1965. She preceded him in death in 2018.

Lester is survived by four children, Janet, Diane, Lester, Jr. and Robert; 9 grandkids and 16 great-grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 brothers and sisters and two grandkids.

Lester enjoyed working in his garage rebuilding cars, motorcycles and doing woodworking projects. He also enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. He enjoyed spending his free time for the past year with is fiance, Deanna Scott.

A celebration of Lesters life will be held at 6 PM Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Pastor Bill Carpenter presiding. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
