Leslie Pine

Leslie Pine, 64, of Danville, passed away on February 9, 2014 at 11:15 AM peacefully at his home. He was born on April 5, 1949 in Chicago, IL the son of John and Helen (Guzetz) Pine. He married Karin Schmidt on November 15, 1985 in Maryland. She survives. He will be deeply missed by one son, John (Nicole) Pine of Danville, one daughter, Helen Pickering of Danville, one stepson, Robert Brenner of Round Lake Beach, IL, two stepdaughters, Melissa Steinberg of Round Lake Beach, IL, and Christine Miller of Elk Grove, IL, eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, one niece, Lisa Held, one nephew, Mark Lance and uncle, Thaddeus Zdeb. Leslie was preceded in death by his parents. Les joined the Army in 1967 and served in Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Zombies Elite motorcycle club for many years in Germany. He was a handyman around Danville and was always trying to help people. He was part of Neighborhood Watch and would want everyone to know “Im Still Here”. A celebration of Leslies life will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Ray Gordon officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the funeral home from 4:00-7:00 PM. Burial will take place at Danville National Cemetery.
