Leslie Charles Hahne, Jr. 89, of Danville passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, surrounded by his family. Leslie was born May 24, 1928 in Danville, Illinois; the son of Cora Lillian (Kennedy) and Leslie C. Hahne, Sr. Leslie married Jane Thurston on April 15, 1948 in Arizona. They recently celebrated 69 years of marriage. Leslie and Jane had seven children: Polly Woolford, Susan (Richard) Drake, Nancy (Tony) Konieczki, James (Kelly) Hahne all of Danville. Hazlett (Theresa) Hahne of Waterloo, IL, Molly (Keith) Woods of Phoenix, Leslie C. Hahne, III (Dec). He is also survived by his brother, Louis W. (Cathy) Hahne and 25 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Leslie was a lifetime member of Saint Paul's Catholic church, a Danville High School and the University of Notre Dame graduate. He was a Korean War veteran, serving as an Officer in a medical unit. Leslie was owner/operator of his family business, Hahne and Company for many years. He has also influenced the youth in the Danville community by providing coaching to numerous youth sports teams. You could always find Les on the golf course, engaging in his favorite pastime. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 4-6 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion Street, Danville, IL 61834 with Rosary service beginning at 3:30 PM. A private burial will be held at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Schlarman Academy, 2112 N Vermilion St, Danville, IL 61832.
