Les 'Leslie' Nickle

Les "Leslie" Paul Nickle passed away on Monday, July 9, 2007, at 6:28 p.m. at his residence, surrounded by his family, after a long struggle with Glioblastoma. Les was born March 28, 1954 in Danville, Illinois, the son of Hershel Jr. and Mildred (Hillard) Nickle. He married Tammy Gayler on October 19, 1985 at Covington Methodist Church. She survives. Other survivors include: one son, Paul Nickle of Westville, Illinois; one daughter, Trisha Nickle of Westville, Illinois; three brothers, Wayne (Nancy) Nickle of Georgetown, Illinois, David (Lisa) Nickle of Westville, Illinois and Tommy Nickle of Westville, Illinois; two sisters, Carol (Bruce) Anderson of Westville, Illinois and Lisa (Joe) Stewart of Chrisman, Illinois; three grandchildren, Sky and Gibson Nickle and Olivia Leslie Hutchins; and many special friends from the 3rd Shift Forging Department at Thyssen-Krupp, especially one very close friend, Rick Booe. He was preceded by his grandparents, one sister, Elizabeth Ann, and his dog, Lacey. Les was a graduate of Westville High School. He was a member of Second Church of Christ in Danville, Illinois. He worked at Thyssen-Krupp for 18 years and had previously worked at Hyster for 14 years, where he was a lift truck painter. Les loved spending time outdoors camping, boating & fishing. He also enjoyed rooting for his favorite NASCAR drivers. He loved his family dearly and truly loved spending time with his grandchildren. A celebration of Les' life will be held at 11 a.m. EDT on Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Sunset's Covington Chapel. Drew Mentzer will be officiating. Burial will be held at Springhill Cemetery in Danville, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 from 4-8 p.m. EDT at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in memory of Les' name to Carol's Furr Kids (Animal Rescue) in care of Carole Tapia, or Serenity Hospice in care of Kendall Kent.
