Leora Ann Hutchison

Westfield, IN – Leora Ann Hutchison, 89, of Westfield, IN, formerly of Covington, IN and Danville, IL, passed away at 5:24 PM on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Copper Trace Family-First Senior Living. She was born March 7, 1936 in Danville, the daughter of Carroll and Virgil Marie (Brown) Laird. She married Ned W. Hutchison on December 5, 1952 at Second Church of Christ in Danville. He preceded her in death in 2007.

She is survived by three sons, David (Vera) Hutchison of Boswell, IN, Scott (Christy) Hutchison of Carmel, IN, and Michael (Sharon) Hutchison of Williamsport, IN; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Cork, Elizabeth Reece, Michael (Lydia) Hutchison, Alex (Carrie) Hutchison, Nick (Emily) Hutchison, Kati (Zacc) Sweet, and Christopher (Alexandria McMiller) Ingerson; and 15 great grandchildren, Olivia Reuth, Anthony Wilks, Devon (Kalie) Reece, Nolan, Ethan, Owen, Chloe, Eli, Luke, Jake, Maggie, Mark, and Zach Hutchison, and Otto and Zoe Sweet.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Luke Hutchison, and six siblings, Glenn, Arthur, and Bill Laird, Helen Vollstedt, Alice Hood, and Doris Ivey.

Leora was a dedicated and lifelong member of the Second Church of Christ in Danville. There she began teaching Sunday School from the young age of 14 and fueled her passion for serving others. She would often volunteer to help the sick and those in need in her community. Many may know Leora from her time at the IGA in Covington where she would do her best to “sell out the store” by encouraging people to try the free samples. She also enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, but most importantly, she loved to spend time with her family. Visiting with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was one of her greatest joys and she will be missed dearly.

Visitation for Leora Hutchison will be held from 4-7 PM CDT on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 AM CDT on Friday, June 27, 2025 also at Sunset in Danville. Pastor Tracy Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Memorials in her name may be made to Second Church of Christ at 3350 E. Voorhees St., Danville, IL 61834.
