Leonard Ronaldoufek Sr

Alvin - Leonard Ronald Sroufek, 85, of Alvin, passed away at 2:36 pm on February 25, 2018 at the Illiana VA Medical Center in Danville, IL. Leonard was born an August 1, 1932 the son of Albert and Elizabeth (Dusak) Sroufek in Chicago, IL. Leonard married his soulmate; Beverly Beddow on August 23, 1952 in Chicago and she preceded him in death on January 20, 2013. Survivors include four sons; Michael (Suzi West) Sroufek Sr., Ronald (Jean) Sroufek, Leonard Sroufek Jr., and George (Angi Verdeyen) Sroufek, all of Alvin; grandchildren; Michael Jr., Brooke, Josh, Dan, Elizabeth, Nick and Amanda; 11 great-grandchildren; a special friend Lawrence Augle as well as numerous friends in Alvin and many extended family members. Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Beverly, two brothers, Albert Sroufek, Jr and James Sroufek. Leonard graduated from Tilden Tech High School in Chicago, IL. He enlisted in the United States Army on April 8, 1952 and served until April 8, 1955. While serving in the Army, he was held as a Prisoner of War in French Indochina (Viet Nam) for three months. Leonard was an Iron Worker in Chicago, IL before forming Justice Fence with his brothers Albert and James. In 1968 Leonard and his family moved to Alvin and formed Alvin Fence and Farm which is still in operation today. Leonard's passion in life was farming and raising cattle, and loved his family dearly, especially taking care of his soulmate; Beverly. A Celebration of Leonard's life will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville with Military Rites conducted by American Legion Post 210 immediately following services. Pastor James Blue will officiate. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the funeral home. As per Leonard's wishes he is to be cremated following the services with burial of his cremains at Mann's Chapel Cemetery in Rossville at a later date.
