Williamsport, Ind. - Leonard Roe McBride, 85, of Williamsport and formerly of Cayuga, Indiana, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 1, 2021 at 10:18 p.m. EST.
Leonard was born in Dana, Indiana on February 7, 1936. He was the son of the late Thomas R. McBride and Bernice (Carmack) McBride Curry.
Leonard attended Frankfort High School and after High School he joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country.
Leonard married his childhood playmate friend and the love of his life, Janice Fortner on October 30, 1957 in Cayuga. She preceded him in death on April 22, 2020.
After leaving the military, Leonard found employment at Harrison Steel Casting Company in Attica, Indiana, where he was a foreman for 36 years.
Leonard enjoyed visiting with his family and friends and loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed going for drives and eating out with his wife, Jan. Leonard also enjoyed watching westerns and going to Flea Markets and gun shows where he would buy old guns to refurbish. He also enjoyed collecting leather and bone to make his beautiful handmade knives. Leonard was a member of the Cayuga Christian Church but has recently been attending church in Pine Village.
Leonard was preceded in death by his son-in-law: Donald Ray Allen, and his brother, Robert McBride.
Leonard leaves behind daughter: Donna (Bill) Livengood of Mitchell, Indiana; daughter: Shelly (Tom) Polf of Attica, Indiana; son: Mark (Mary) McBride of Dana, Indiana, and daughter: Tasha (Dan) Murray of Waynetown, Indiana; nine grandchildren: Chad (Misty) Allen; Tai (Josh) Tolle; Seth (Laura) Murray; Zachary (Jessie) McBride; Caleb (Kaylyn) Murray; Lance Livengood; Lucas Livengood; Jennifer (Robert) Wright and Noah McBride; nine great-grandchildren, and his sister: Glenalee (Larry) Shriver.
The family would like to send out a special 'Thank You' to Heart to Heart Hospice for their special love and care that was provided for our father.
Funeral service: 1 p.m. EST Saturday, March 6, 2021 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Rob Robbins; Burial with Honors: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 11 a.m. EST Saturday, March 6, 2021 until time of services at the funeral home.
