Leonard R. Nolan, 95, of Bismarck passed away May 6, 2021 at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville. He was born on December 29, 1925 in Camden, Tennessee a son of Nancy and George Nolan.
Leonard proudly served in the United States Army. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart for his sacrifice. He also received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Battle Star, and the Victory Medal. Upon his return home, he married Nellie Nolan in October of 1947. Together they raised 5 children.
He retired from Woodland Plastics after over 20 years of hard work. He liked to keep busy, even in retirement.
Leonard is survived by children Belinda Shults, Doug Nolan, Dan Nolan, Darrell (Karen) Nolan, and Vickie (Joey) Vance, many grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, 3 siblings, and 2 great-grandsons, Johnathon and Nicholas Lewandowski.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at Alvin Church of God, located at 109 South St. in Alvin. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 am on Tuesday, also at the church. Pastor Dan Hunt will be officiating. He will be laid to rest at Walnut Corner in Bismarck next to Nellie.
