Leonard 'Lennie' Allen Jr.

Leonard Lennie Allen Jr., 63, of Danville passed away at 6:49 a.m. on June 22, 2009 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Lennie was born December 28, 1945 in Danville the son of Leonard Nig and Rosemary J. (Vandiver) Allen Sr. He married Phyllis J. Stephens on June 4, 1966 in Danville. She survives along with two sons, Kevin (Jamie) Allen of Henning and Paul (Chelle) Roberts of Hoopeston; one daughter, Renee (Frank) Wright of Danville; one brother, Danny (Cindy) Allen Sr. of Danville; three sisters, Sharon (Hollis) Pierce, Donna Yanders and Gloria (Rick) Hufford all of Danville; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Jesse) Herron, Amanda Roberts, Kevin Allen Jr., Faith and Joshua Wright; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Myeleigh Herron as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one granddaughter Brittaney Janee Allen. Lennie had many skills. He owned and operated the Danville BCA Pool League, however he was also a roofer by trade and retired from Bireline Roofing. In his spare time you could always find him either building new race cars or out racing cars, Its A Family Tradition. Other hobbies he enjoyed were fishing and shooting pool but all of them paled in comparison to raising his grandchildren, his greatest love of all. A Celebration of Lennies Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday June 27, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL with C.W. Greer officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00p.m., Friday, June 26, 2009 at the funeral home. Following the service, he will be entombed at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
