Leona M. Lugoski, 85, of Westville, passed away at 5:10pm, Sunday, September 7, 2008, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. She was born on August 25, 1923, in Catlin, IL, the daughter of Lemuel and Eva Whimpey, both deceased. She was married to John D. Lugoski on August 10, 1946, in Westville. He will miss her dearly. Others who will miss her include: her children, J.D. Lugoski of Tilton and Pam (John) Brewer of Westville; her grandchildren, A.J. Brewer of Tokyo, Japan, and Kevin Brewer of N. Hollywood, CA; her brother, Harry (Betty) Whimpey of Ormond Beach, FL; and her sister, Rachel (Richard) Thomas of Spring Valley, CA. Leona was preceded in death by her brother, Bill. Leona was a seamstress for a long time and worked for many facilities then retired in 1977. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #51. She enjoyed crafts and liked to square dance. She especially enjoyed her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. A celebration of Leonas life will be held at 10:30am, Thursday, September 11, 2008, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville. Pastor James Blue will officiate. Visitation will be 5pm to 7pm, Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at the funeral chapel. She will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in Leonas name to the following: American Legion Auxiliary Post #51, or Westville Academic Foundation, or the American Cancer Society for Leukemia Research.
