Leona E Haworth, age 99, of Collison, IL peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Davis Healthcare, in Wilmington, NC. Leona was born February 3, 1916, in Vermilion County, the daughter of J. A. Whittington and Lennie May Johnson. She married the love of her life, John R. Haworth on July 7, 1934 in Vermillion County. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Elva Blakney and Lillian Bernardi, brother, Bernard Whittington, son John Haworth, husband John R. Haworth, and son-in-law John Stretchko. Leona was a wonderful cook, making the best pies from scratch. She loved music and was a wonderful piano player. She was the most loving Grandmother ever and loved to be with family. She was a traveler and traveled from California to Niagra Falls with her husband John. In her later years she loved to play bingo, sequence and word search. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her daughter Patricia Stretchko, grandchildren Keith Stretchko and his wife Julia, Karin Stretchko, Kathleen DelBusso and her husband Jeff, Tisha Haworth-Holycross and Lisa Halls, nine great-grandchildren Kurt, Nathan, Josh, Jordan, Andrea, Cody, Tara, Tyra and Judith. Also surviving are her daughter-in-law Donna Haworth. A Celebration of Leonas life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Leona will be laid to rest at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
