Leon S. Parker Sr, 86, of Danville passed away at 9:15 PM on February 21, 2025 at his home in Danville, IL.
Leon was born on November 21, 1938 the son of Vernard and Mary (Phillips) Parker in Danville, IL. He married Judith Higgins on August 9, 1958 in Dorchester, MA and she survives.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Parker of Danville, IL his children, Mary Ann Parker of Danville, IL, Leon (Vickie) Parker of Danville, IL, Diane (Don Vascura) Fadl of Danville, IL, and James (Mary) Parker of Spain, grandchildren, Kevin (Mary) Parker, Brian (Emily) Parker, Alexis (Jake) Hill, Michael (Mia Morris) Vascura, Lucas Parker, Druhan Parker, Rachel Parker, Brooke Parker, Kayla (Kevin) Beaulier, Breana (Kevin) Albers, Lukas Wright, Adrianna Parker, Mitchell (Tania Batres) Parker, April Parker, James (Jenyce) Parker, Katherine (Jeff) Malke, and Lamar Kindle, great grandchildren, Kaitlynn Parker, Madisyn Parker, Laylana Parker, Gabriel McConkey, Damon Hill, Delia Hill, Boston Parker, Luna Parker, Amara Parker, Lylah Beaulier, Hallie Beaulier, Emmor Albers, Opal Albers, Vivienne Malke, Celeste Malke and Juliette Malke, as well as numerous nieces and nephews whose last names are Dombroskie, Pitchford, Parker, Corbin, and Tarpley, and special friends, Tom Day, Leo Soneson and Jack McCoy.
Leon is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Gary Parker, Dale Parker, Lee Warren Parker, Wanda Corbin, Lois Dombroskie and Phyllis Kell.
Leon was a member of St Paul’s Catholic Church and was retired from Bohn Aluminum/Heatcraft after 39 years of service. He served his country in the United State Navy from November of 1956 until October 1959. Leon enjoyed spending his free time coaching baseball, camping, grilling out and cheering for the St Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears. Most of all, Leon loved spending time with his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at St Paul’s Catholic Church, 1303 N Walnut Street, Danville, Illinois 61832. Father Narcis Katambe will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard. A Prayer Service will be held at 4:30 PM on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 with Visitation to follow from 5-7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834.
Memorial may be made to American Legion Post 210 Speakers Baseball.
