Leon F. Haussy, 80, of Georgetown, passed away at 9:34am, Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Provena USMC, Danville. He was born on December 14, 1929, in Danville, IL, the son of Leon and Maugerita (Delanois) Haussy, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Bettie Nimrick on October 13, 1951, in Georgetown. She will miss him dearly. Others who will miss him include: his children, Steve C. Haussy of Minneapolis, MN, & Crystal (Tim) Snack of Bedford, IN; his daughter-in-law, June Haussy of Greenfield, WI; his grandchildren, Brandon (Maggi) Snack of Bedford, IN, Kaci (Joe) Butler of West Baden, IN, Jessica Haussy of Greenfield, WI, & Jennifer Haussy of Greenfield, WI; and his great grandchildren, Mady, Colton, Triniti, & Kaylin; his brother, Paul (Lou) Haussy of Danville; his sister-in-law, Sherry (Leo) Serd of Georgetown; his aunt, Dorothy Egget of Westville; and many nieces & nephews. Leon was a proud Veteran of the US Army and served in I-Corps during the Korean Conflict. He drove a truck for Kellys Potato Chips for 35 years and after retirement drove a school bus for Georgetown-Ridge Farm School District. Leon was a member of the United Methodist Church of Georgetown, American Legion Dornblaser Post #203, & the McDonalds Coffee Club. Leon loved wood working and made toy boxes for his grandkids. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and also rooted for the Illini. Most of all, Leon loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. A celebration of Leons life will be held at 10:00am, Friday, March 26, 2010, at Georgetown United Methodist Church. Matt Filicsky will officiate. Visitation will be 4pm-8pm, Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in Leons name to Georgetown United Methodist Church.
