Leo Jabines

Danville Leo L. Jabines, 88, of Danville passed away at 5:00 PM on July 22, 2019 at Danville Care Center in Danville, IL.

Leo was born on October 2, 1930 the son of Pascual T and Sotera L. (Loquias) Jabines in Maribojoc, Bohol the Philippines. He married Priscilla Briones on June 20, 1957 in Cebu City in the Philippines and she survives of Danville.

Survivors include his wife, Priscilla Jabines, two daughters, Dr. Haydee Jabines-Stewart of Danville, IL and Ingrid (Gary) Sly of Saucier, MS, one son, Edgar (Thelma) Jabines of the Philippines, two brothers, Peter (Linar) Jabines and Teofile (Inday) Jabines both of the Philippines, eight grandchildren, Dr. Allie (Pete) Wroblewski, Neil (Mary) Abella, Dawn Abella, Daniel John (DJ) Abella, Dr. Egerses Leo Jabines, Eros Tristan (Hannah) Jabines, Ellaine Precille Jabines and Elisha Jabines, one great grandson, Elijah Ethan Jabines, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews who reside in the United States, Philippines and Australia.

Leo is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Leo attended the Meadowbrook Community Church in Urbana. Before coming to the United States, Leo was a businessman in the Philippines where he owned and operated a dry good retail store. After a devastating fire at the dry goods store, Leo was determined to ensure that his children received an education. He stated, "Always get an education, no one can take that away from you." True to his word, Leo sacrificed to ensure that his children, as well as his grandchildren and even some extended family members, were able to obtain college degrees. Leo loved his family dearly and was extremely generous. Even when Leo had nothing, he would give to others and encourage them to make a better life for themselves.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834, with Pastor Ken Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019, from 5:00 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
