Leo Dale Anderson, 88, of Monticello, passed away at 2:26 pm on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. Dale was born October 3rd, 1927 in Deland, Illinois, the son of Thomas M. and Irene Grubaugh Anderson. He married Patricia Madden on June 10th, 1961 in Monticello. She survives. Other survivors include 1 daughter, Rebecca Anderson Blackburn of Monticello; 1 son, Steve (Leigh) Anderson of Monticello; 2 sisters, Bonnie Ellen Anderson and Linda C. Smith, both of White Heath; 4 grandchildren, Trevor E. Blackburn, Madison A. Blackburn, Erin E. Anderson and Matthew S. Anderson, all of Monticello. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, T. Ray Anderson, and 1 sister, Bernice Anderson Jones. Dale served his Country in the U.S. Navy for 5 years, and later served in the U.S. Army for an additional 3 years. He was a proud veteran of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and most importantly, he was a Christian Warrior. Dale loved to fly, and possessed a private pilot license. Graveside services for Leo Dale Anderson will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Monticello Township Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Monticello American Legion Post #101 Honor Guard.
