LENA CLAIRE BALBACH Lena Claire Balbach, 95, of Danville, passed away at 7:37 a.m. Sunday, February 04, 2007 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. Lena was born on August 21, 1911 in Catlin, Illinois, the daughter of Carlos and Gertrude (Payne) Mendenhall. She married Elmer Balbach on February 19, 1943 in Oakwood, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1973. She is survived by six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Lena was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son- Harry Verne Cockrell, four brothers, and two sisters. Lena is a graduate of Oakwood High School. She worked for several years at the Oakwood Bank and the Danville V.A. Medical Center. She attended Oakwood Nazarene Church. Lena enjoyed doing puzzles, crafts, and sewing. She loved being with her family and friends. A Celebration of the Life of Lena Claire Balbach will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel, with Pastor Bill Connell officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. " 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Oakwood Nazarene Church.
