Lealon Dewitt

Lealon Gerd DeWitt, 96, of Vilonia, Arkansas, formerly of Danville, passed away at 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at his residence. Lealon was born January 5, 1912, in Scott County, IN, the son of Alvis Virgil DeWitt and Alida Helena (Leerkamp) DeWitt. He married Opal Hathaway on December 18, 1948 in Champaign, Il. She preceded him in death on February 17, 1999. Lealon is survived by one son, Gary (Terri) DeWitt of Liberty, MO; two daughters, Karen (Gary) Seeds of Vilonia, AR; Denise DeWitt of Dayton, OH; one grandson, Jason Lee DeWitt and one granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn DeWitt, both of St. Joseph, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Raymond DeWitt and one sister, Dorothy Gibson. Lealon was a graduate of Urbana High School. He worked for 29 years at General Motors before retiring in 1971. He was a member of Local #579 " GM Retirees. Lealon was a member of Union Corner Church in Danville. A celebration of life for Lealon Gerd DeWitt will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville with Pastor Patty Wise officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2008 at the funeral home.
