Danville - Leah E. Sperry, 103, of Danville, Illinois, went home to our Lord on March 18, 2023. She was born December 13, 1919 to Marcel and Bertha Fenet. She married Glenn R. Sperry on May 4, 1940.
Leah was a friend to many and awoke each day with a smile on her face and kindness in her heart. She attended Diamond Grade School and Oakwood High School. She loved rooting for the Comets, the Illini and her beloved Cubs. Leah worked for the Merle Sears Box factory, a glove factory, and General Electric from 1952-1978. She was an active member and officer in the Fithian Womens Club, the Danville DanGE organization for retired GE employees and the Danville TOPS Club.
Leah and Glenn fished for many years at the Pollywog Association in Oakwood and traveled to Canada with family and friends. Later in life Leah traveled frequently and was often asked "Where are you going next week, Leah?"
She was born with a servants heart and shared her kindness with everyone she met. Her devotion to her family was the cornerstone of her life. She loved her children and grandchildren without measure. Over the years she taught Sunday School at Faith Baptist Church, Lone Oak Church of Christ and worked diligently on the history of the church. Upon the closing of Lone Oak Church, she joined the Bismarck Church of Christ.
She was predeceased by her husband, parents, her brother Clarence Fenet, great-granddaughter Kaylin Leigh Dietrich, great-grandson Thomas R. Kuhn and son-in-law John W. Sadler. She is survived by her children Carolyn J. Sadler and Larry W. Sperry (Jamie), four grandchildren: Marcella (Tom) Kuhn, Michelle Sadler Williams, Delynn R. Sperry, and Greg Sperry (Amanda). She is survived by seven great-grandchildren: Kenzie Sadler Williams, Bram Williams, Tynan Williams, Michael Dietrich, Ling Kuhn, Reed Sperry and Quinn Sperry. In addition to her family, her friends Georgia and Charlie Strange have also been a big part of her life.
